La Ceiba’s Business Loan Program is designed to take our clients to the next level. While our Personal Loan Program is designed to meet the most basic needs of our clients, the Business Loan Program offers aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to turn their dreams into a reality. While the program is a work in progress, our goal is to create a clear and comprehensive loan structure that fosters an entrepreneurial spirit amongst the La Ceiba community.

Economic Activity Loans

Loan Amount Interest Rate Repayment Schedule Loan Increase Rate Loan Maturity
L2,500 – L5,000 ($125 – $250) Flat Interest Rate 15% Weekly, Bimonthly, or Monthly Increase by L500 ($25) 6 or 12 months

The use of loans to build assets and otherwise prepare for the future creation of a business.  The goal is to stabilize consumption to the point where individuals can begin thinking and preparing for the long term.

Microenterprise Loans

A small-scale business in the informal sector. Microenterprises often employ less than 3 people and can be based out of the home. Microenterprise is often the sole source of family income but can also act as a supplement to other forms of income. Examples of microenterprises include small retail kiosks, sewing workshops, carpentry shops and market stalls.

Small Enterprise Loans

A small-scale business in either the informal or formal sector.  Small enterprise loans are given to businesses that employ more than 3 people but less than 5 and can be based out of the home or alternative source.
